Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat

Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat is one of the best négociants in Vougeot, Burgundy. The winemaker is Charles van Canneyt, who produces gorgeous, classic and of perfectly balanced wines.

Top wines of the estate are: Richebourg Grand Cru, Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, and Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Aux Malconsorts. The Richebourg Grand Cru 2020 scored 96-98, the Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2014 scored 97, and the Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Aux Malconsorts 2012 scored 95-97 by the Wine Advocate.

Rober Parker’s tasting notes on the Richebourg Grand Cru 2020 are: “The king of the cellar is the 2020 Richebourg Grand Cru, a magical wine in the making that wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, red berries, exotic spices, licorice and orange rind. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's deep and concentrated, with lively acids and a strikingly persistent finish. Again, this looks likely to emerge as the finest of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 trio chez Hudelot-Noëllat.”.

History

1920

Since 2008 Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat has been under management of Charles van Canneyt, who succeeded his grandfather - Alain Hudelot-Noëllat.

The estate possesses old vines, most grand crus including Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, were planted approximately in 1920.

Approach

During vinification the work is conducted very precisely. The grapes are sorted twice: firstly in the vineyards, secondly in the winery. The fermentation is carried out in fermentation tanks. In order for the grapes to enhance the extra tannis, 20 percent of stems are kept up with the juice.

The wines are matured in casks, particularly from Allier, with some from the Vosges and local Citeaux.
