Robert Parker comments on Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Folatières 2011: “Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2011 from Sébastien Magnien has a reserved bouquet but the most pedigree of the flight with attractive mineral scents: slate and limestone. The palate is very poised on the entry with a fine line of acidity. This is nicely poised with a strictness and linearity that is both intellectual and pleasurable to the senses. Long and persistent in the mouth, this is an outstanding Puligny that shocked not only myself when its identity was revealed. That's Burgundy for you”.
History
2003
Domaine Sébastien Magnien is young by name only, as it descends from Domaine Parigot de Meloisey in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. In 2003 Sébastien Magnien gave the domaine another shot, and transferred headquarters to revamped cellars in the middle of Meursault.
Nowadays Sébastien Magnien produces red wines from Volnay, Pommard and the Hautes-Côtes, and white wines from the Hautes-Côtes, Saint-Romain and Meursault.
Approach
Sustainable
Domaine Sébastien Magnien is farmed according to sustainable principles.
Sébastien Magnien makes reds and whites following the most classical Burgundian traditions of winemaking.
The process in the cellar is non-interventional, the use of wood is minimal, which makes the terroir speak for itself.
