Robert Parker comments on the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2019: “The 2019 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is the most concentrated, muscular wine in the range, unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnuts, honeycomb, wheat toast and spices. Full-bodied, layered and seamless, it's rich and textural, with huge depth at the core, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. This is a sumptuous, broad-shouldered Bienvenues that's built to age”.

History

Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet & Fils is managed by Benoit and Jean-Baptiste Bachelet; they joined their father - Jean-Claude Bachelet in 2010. Till 2020, father and son were together on the reign of the estate.

The roots of Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet & Fils go back to the middle of the 17th century when Pierre Bachelet was growing vines in Chassagne-Montrachet. In the 1970s, Jean-Claude Bachelet began domain bottling.

Approach

Biodynamic without certification

The vineyards of Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet & Fils are farmed according to the biodynamic principles, but without certification.

The Bachelet family pays attention to details: the vinification is carried out naturally with indigenous yeasts and slow fermentation, which allows each wine to reflect its unique terroir.

The wines are aged for 18 months in François Frères oak barrels with 20 percent of new wood.
