Robert Parker comments on Montrachet Grand Cru 2014: “Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Marc Colin's 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru has an outstanding bouquet with mineral-driven gunflint scents that are just beautifully delineated. The use of oak here is very astute and it opens gloriously in the glass, thrilling at every turn. The palate is brilliantly balanced with crisp acidity, vibrant and tensile with a saline note that spreads its wings toward the deep, concentrated finish. To be honest, among the quartet of Montrachet tasted blind, this was the only one that really confirmed its status. Astonishing”.
History
Domaine Marc Colin & Fils is run by the Colin family, in particular the founder of the domaine - Marc Colin, his son Domien Colin and daughter Caroline Colin.
The roots of the domaine go back to the 1970s, when at the age of 26 Marc Colin took over some plots and founded Domaine Marc Colin & Fils.
Approach
Organic
The vineyards of Domaine Marc Colin & Fils are farmed according to the organic principles, but without certification. Regular tillage allows the winemaker to avoid chemical weeding, and thus obtain an irreproachable quality of grapes.
The maturation is carried out for 11 months in barrels and 6 months in tanks. The white wines are aged with a search for purity, elegance, and length whereas the reds focus on freshness, crisp fruit, and silky tannins.
