Robert Parker says that the Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru 2016 “... has a wonderful, vibrant bouquet with perfumed wild strawberry and raspberry preserve aromas, wilted rose petals and just a hint of sous bois. This is very detailed and precise. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin on the entry, but the concentration is delivered on the back palate - a firm grip, this Corton becoming more and more masculine toward the finish and then quite saline on the aftertaste”.

History

Bruno Clavelier is the current winemaker, who has pursued his passion for coaching the Nuits-Saint-Georges team as a rugby player, in 1987 succeeded his grandfather - Joseph Brosson. Since then Bruno Clavelier has been realizing his winemaking potential. In particular, he has expanded the domaine’s holdings into other Côte de Nuits communes and he also expanded the winery and cellar buildings intending to bottle all the wines on his own.

Approach

Biodynamic, Certified organic

Farming in the Domaine Bruno Clavelier is based on a biodynamic approach. The main rule of vinification is not to impose the hand of the winemaker. The grapes are sorted twice: the first time by the picking team, the second time on a table de tri. Nowadays up to two-third whole bunches are used in winemaking. Maceration is done only with little pumping over. The wine is aged in 15 to 20 percent new oak barrels for the village wines and 8 percent for the premiers crus.
