History
1989
In 2015, Edouard Confuron took over the reins of the estate. He was preceded by his father, François Confuron, who founded the domaine in 1989.
The roots of the Confuron family go back to the 17th century, the reign period of King Louis the 14th. There are two main branches of the Confuron family - the first one of Jean Confuron and the second one of Joseph Confuron.
The family branch of Joseph Confuron starts with his marriage to Simone Jayer, first cousin of Henry Jayer. Joseph Confuron and Simone Jayer had three sons - Jack, Gérard and Sergè. The holdings of Sergè Confuron were passed to François Confuron.
Approach
Biodynamic
Considerable efforts are made every year to save and strengthen the viticulture of the domaine; some biodynamic principles are applied.
There are many parcels with more than 60 or 80 years old vines - it’s significant to keep them healthy. In vineyards, preventative methods such as ploughing and trimming are broadly used, and chemicals are avoided.
Edouard Confuron implemented some changes to the winemaking process. One of them is experimenting with the percentage of whole bunches in the vats. The maturation is conveyed in barrels made of oak and other types of wood; it lasts for about 18 months, where a long malolactic fermentation will take place due to a very cool cellar. The bottling is done at the estate while respecting the best temperatures and the lunar calendar.
