Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is a magnificent upcoming star of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux. The current winemaker is the skilful and ambitious Thomas Collardot.

The top wines of this domaine are Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru and Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. The 2016 vintages of Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru and Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru scored 96-98, the 2016 vintage of Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru scored 95-97 by the Wine Advocate.

Robert Parker noted the Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2016: “There are three barrels of the 2016 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, two of them new, coming from the domaine’s 0.17 hectares of vines planted in 1936. It has a spellbinding bouquet with pure macerated red cherries, hints of violet and crushed white flowers, building all the time with aeration while maintaining impeccable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, actually quite Clos de la Roche in style, sensual and rounded with an exquisite, poised finish tinged with blue fruit that lingers on and on and on. This is a stunning Clos Saint-Denis.”

The style of Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is a pure and charming expression of the terroir, with a light oak signature.

Thomas Collardot joined the domaine in 2005. Since 2011, he has been in charge of the winemaking process.

Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot is a genuine Burgundian family estate. The family have several branches, as the name of the domaine implies.

Different generations of these families work together in the vineyard as well in the cellar.

The grapes are destemmed, slightly punched down and moved to the barrels for 18 months maturation. No racking, fining, or filtering is done.

Thomas Collardot changed the new oak percentage to 50-66 percent for grands crus and 30 percent for village wines.
