Robert Parker's tasting notes on the Gabin et Félix Richoux Irancy Merci La Foule 2017: "Now that it's in bottle, the 2017 Irancy Merci La Foule continues to perform brilliantly, wafting from the glass with notions of cherries, sweet berries, incense and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's structured around rich, velvety tannins and lively acids, concluding with a sapid, gently oak-inflected finish. As readers may remember, it's a special cuvée produced from a small plot of vines planted at very high density and trained to stakes (échelas), necessitating cultivation entirely by hand. Only one 350-liter barrel was made."

History

1979

Gabin et Félix Richoux is the Richoux family treasure, that passes from generation to generation. It was established in 1979 by Thierry Richoux, who aspired to produce his own wines. In 10 years later his wife joined him.

In 2012 they passed the estate ownership and management to their children - Gabin et FélixRichoux.

Approach

The vineyards of Gabin et Félix Richoux are treated organically and biodynamically. Since 2010 viticulture has been certified by Ecocert.

The grapes are hand-harvested. There is a double sorting in the cellar.  Both maceration and fermentation are carried out with no use of yeasts or sulphites.

Aging is always prolonged, as befits an Irancy: at least one year in vats and one year in wood. Sulphites are added to the bottling.
