Domaine Corinne & Jean-Pierre Grossot
One of the well-known domains in the hills of Fleys, in the Yonne in Burgundy is Domaine Corinne & Jean-Pierre Grossot. The domaine holds 18 hectares in Fleys, Chablis, Chichée and Fontenay. In viticulture, Eve Grossot follows organic principles. The domaine obtained organic certification by Ecocert in 2019.
The wines of the domaine have beautiful texture, perfect balance and fruity flavours. The wines are also sold under the name “Perchaud” - Corinne Grossot’s maiden name.
Top wines of the domaine are: Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume, Chablis Premier Cru Vaucoupin and Chablis Premier Cru Les Fourneaux. The Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume 2017 scored 92, the Chablis Premier Cru Vaucoupin 2017 scored 91-92 and the Chablis Premier Cru Les Fourneaux 2017 scored 91 by the Wine Advocate.
History
Domaine Corinne & Jean-Pierre Grossot is managed by Eve Grossot. She succeeded her parents Corinne Grossot and Jean-Pierre Grossot.
The domaine was founded in the 1920s by Jean-Pierre Grossot's grandparents. Since then it was inherited from father to son.
Approach
Certified organic since 2019
The vineyards of Domaine Corinne & Jean-Pierre Grossot have been farmed organically since 2012 and obtained organic certification by Ecocert in 2019.
Interestingly, the domaine was first certified organic in 2015, but in 2016 it was obliged to give up, as some non-organic treatments were needed. Nevertheless, the domaine obtained re-certification by Ecocert in 2019.
The soils are ploughed, the vines are pruned and disbudded; treatments are reduced to their urgent need. Harvesting is mixed and done in both ways- by machine and by hand.
Fermentation and maturation are done in stainless steel, though for some premiers crus old oak barrels can be used. Indigenous yeasts have been used since 2018. Racking and blending are carried out in June. Bottling is conducted at the end of the year.
