Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 2018 are: “The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros is showing nicely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, nutmeg, sweet orchard fruit and struck match that are deftly patinated by new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's fleshy, open but precise, with tangy acids and a nicely defined, mouthwatering finish. This is a real success that should offer a broad drinking window”.
History
Domaine Roland Lavantureux is managed by the brothers Lavantureux - Arnaud and David. Since 2010 Arnaud Lavantureux has been the winemaker of the domaine. In the course of 30 years before the brothers took over, the estate was managed by their father - Roland Lavantureux.
During the reign, the Lavantureux brothers extended Domaine Roland Lavantureux with new plots in Chablis, particularly in Chablis Premier Cru Vau de Vey.
Approach
The vineyards of Domaine Roland Lavantureux consist of 60 years old vines. The aim of Arnaud Lavantureux is to express each terroirs' varieties and the particularities of every vintage. The vinification is focused on expressing the uniqueness of each cuvée.
On Burgundy Report, David Lavantureux explains: “We look for the minerality but we like concentration too. We make some parts of the elevage in barrel, following the fermentation, some malos are in barrel though, a mix of barrels, including some of 350 litres. Typically the barrels already have 3-4 wines behind them – we’re lucky to have a good supply from a producer in Meursault. For us its really important that each wine shows its personality, but that it changes each year too”.
