The top wines of Domaine Camille Giroud are: Chambertin Grand Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Tête du Clos, and Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru les Vergers.
The Chambertin Grand Cru 2013 scored 95, the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Tête du Clos 2011 scored 94, and the Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru les Vergers 2014 scored 92-94 by the Wine Advocate.
Robert Parker comments on the Chambertin Grand Cru 2013: “Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru has a crisp bouquet with almost sultry raspberry and blackberry fruit, damp earth, perhaps even a hint of iodine in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, moderate depth though without the structure of some of its peers. There is class here, coveted away at present, yet there is certainly impressive mineralité on the finish that lingers in the mouth. Bravo David Croix -- this is an outstanding Chambertin. Tasted September 2016”.
History
1865
Since 2017 Carel Voorhuis has been the winemaker of Domaine Camille Giroud, he succeeded David Croix who had been the winemaker for the previous 15 years.
In January 2002 négociant** Domaine Camille Giroud was purchased by the banker Joe Wender and his wife Ann Colgin, who is responsible for the winery.
The roots of Domaine Camille Giroud go back to 1865 when young Camille Giroud founded the small négociant company.
Approach
According to the cuvée, Carel Voorhuis decides whether the grapes should be completely destemmed or not. In general, there is no standard approach to Domaine Camille Giroud wine production; the grapes' taste determines the winemaking methods. Carel Voorhuis prefers the wines to be light in colors, so he tends to use pre-maceration practice in his winemaking.
