Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Bourgogne Marsannay 1978 are: “A memorable wine, Audoin's 1978 Bourgogne Marsannay, derived from climat Au Champ Salomon, can keep company with some of the best of the vintage, and I would love to see it served blind alongside some Gevrey-Chambertin grands crus from the same year. Offering up complex aromas of wild berries, orange rind, forest floor, exotic spices and potpourri, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a sumptuously textural attack, huge reserves of concentration, velvety tannins and a long, sapid finish”.
History

Approach
Biodynamic, Certified organic since 2021, Certified sustainable by HVE
The vines have been ploughed for several generations, with no herbicides. Since 2021 Domaine Charles Audoin has been farmed according to biodynamic principles with organic certification. The winemaker - Cyril Audoin, is sometimes using whole bunches for the vinification, depending on the ripeness of the stems.
The wines are matured for 12 months in barrels with about a quarter in new wood. Cyril Audoin chooses François Frères, Taransaud, and Rousseau barrels. After ageing in barrels, the wine spends 6 months in tanks. The bottling process conveyed without fining or filtration.
