Domaine Anne Gmate is the smallest domaine of the Gros family estates, consisting of 6.5 hectares in Vosne-Romanée. Anne Gros is a talented and passionate winemaker, who makes complete and refined wines.

Top wines of the domaine are: Richebourg Grand Cru and Clos de Vougeot Le Grand Maupertius Grand Cru. Richebourg Grand Cru 2015 scored 96-98 and 2016 scored 95, Clos de Vougeot Le Grand Maupertius Grand Cru 1990 scored 96 by the Wine Advocate. Robert Parker comments on Richebourg Grand Cru 2015: “The 2015 Richebourg Grand Cru was actually more immediate on the nose compared to the Echézeaux (usually it is the other way round). Matured in one-third new oak, it offers quite intense yet pure aromas of blackberry, briary, incense, potpourri and crushed stone all with very impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, red and black fruit intermingling and embroidered with orange zest and minerals. I love the delineation and poise expressed by this Richebourg, and the length is one of the best that I have encountered in almost two decades visiting the domaine. Do not, on any account, underestimate this Richebourg.”

Anne Gros took over her father’s domaine in 1988. Since she expanded her holdings and invested in a new cellar. Recently, her children, daughter Julie and son Paul have joined the family estate.

The special features of the viticulture of Anne Gros are: thorough work in the vineyard and prudence in the winery. The grapes are completely destemmed and are vinified in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature between 10 to 20 days, depending on the vintage. The free-run juice and press juice are blended and settled during 2 to 5 days to eliminate the heavy lees.

The wines are matured for 16 months in 80 percent of new oak for the grands crus, 50 percent for the village wines, and 30 percent for the regional wines.

The bottling process comes about in December of the following year.
