Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard is located in the heart of Savigny-lès-Beaune. Vincent Girard, the winemaker of the domaine, cultivates the vineyards with the approach, close to organic, but without certification. The domaine totally owns 15 hectares of vineyards.

The top wine of the domaine is: Pernand-Vergelesses Les Belles Filles 2016, scored 91 by the Wine Advocate.

Robert Parker comments on Pernand-Vergelesses Les Belles Filles 2016: “The 2016 Pernand-Vergelesses Les Belles Filles has an impressive and well-defined bouquet with touches of peach skin, dried lemon and granite. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry, quite spicy and certainly brimming with energy. Is this really just a village cru? Worthy of a premier cru in my opinion.”

The current winemaker of Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard is Vincent Girard. Jean-Jacques Girard was in charge of the domaine, but as he was reaching retirement age, Vincent Girard became in charge of vinification.

The previous name of the domaine is Domaine Girard-Vollot but in 1998 it was divided between brothers Jean-Jacques Girard and Philippe Girard. Over the last two decades the domaine has expanded by purchasing vineyards, and has added further appellations.

In the Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard the vineyards are farmed with the approach, close to organic, but without certification.

The red wines are being entirely destemmed. Punching down is not used, instead, a mix of pumping over and délestage is preferred. The first 12 months are spent in barrels with typically 30 percent of new wood. Then they are being racked to tank for a further four months before bottling. White wines are vinified and matured in a mix of tank and new 500-litres barrels, replaced each year.
