Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 are: “Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru from Philippe Colin has a wonderful bouquet with chalk dust-infused citrus fruit, gunflint and just a hint of pear drop. However, underneath this all lies wonderful mineralité. The palate is well balanced with vibrant acidity, saline and with an intense, structured finish that lingers in the mouth. You can feel the presence of this grand cru: a class act that is going to give some lucky owners a lot of drinking pleasure. Intellectual and thrilling.”.

History

2004

Domaine Philippe Colin was established in 2004. When Philippe Colin’s parents - Bernadette and Michel retired, he along with his brother decided to create their own business, in line with their different approaches to winemaking.

The roots of Philippe Colin’s passion for winemaking go back to his youth. He studied viticulture and oenology at the famous viticultural high school of Beaune. Then Philippe Colin spent 16 years working at the family estate, where he took a lot from his parents and built up winemaker’s skills.

Approach

Sustainable

Phillipe Colin prefers a pneumatic press.

The production of red wine: grapes are completely destemmed and undergo a cold soak. Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled tanks. The alcohol fermentation starts on natural yeasts.

The wine is matured in different barrels, from medium toast to fine grain.

Before bottling the wines are stirred and filtered. The bottling is processed by gravity.
