Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Maranges Premier Cru Le Croix Moines 2017 are: “The 2017 Maranges Premier Cru Le Croix Moines is promising, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cassis, smoked meats and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with good depth of fruit at the core, framed by fine-grained but firm structuring tannins. This is a complex and incipiently elegant Maranges in the making.”.
History
1830
Today Domaine Chevrot & Fils is run by two brothers and holders of a degree in oenology - Vincent Chevrot and Pablo Chevrot.
The roots of the domaine go back to 1830.
In 2020 a new cuverie was built, which improved the work at the domaine.
Approach
Certified organic
Domaine Chevrot & Fils is certified organic. Current winemakers - Vincent Chevrot and Pablo Chevrot, farm the vineyards with respect for the land and nature. The 5 hectares are ploughed and 15 are cultivated by a tractor, no herbicides are used. All the employees who prune the vines have been trained in Guyot-Poussard pruning.
The white grapes are crushed before the vinification. The fruits’ fermentation varies on the cuvée.** In particular for the village Sur le Chêne the grapes are destemmed, whereas for Aligoté les Quatre Terroirs it is not, but it is barrel-fermented.
