Château de la Crée is a 15th century estate located in Santenay, Burgundy. The vineyards cover 10 hectares and are farmed according to the biodynamic approach. The domaine has not been certified yet. The winemaker is Pablo Bosch, who makes balanced and great fruitiness wines.

On CellarTracker the Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot 2006 scored 94, the Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Angles 2007 scored 94, and the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru La Garenne 2013 scored 94.

History

In 2015 Château de la Crée was sold by Nicolas and Béatrice** Ryhiner to Ken and Grace Evenstad, who also own Domaine Serene in Oregon. Ken Evenstad says that owning and farming legendary vineyards in Burgundy is a dream come true for them. Since 2017 the winemaker has been Pablo Bosch.

The roots of the domaine go back to the 15th century to Nicolas Rolin, who was the chancellor to Philippe the Good and founder of the Hospices de Beaune. Its cellars date from 1431.

In the 19th century, the château was completely rebuilt.

Approach

Biodynamic

Château de la Crée vineyards are farmed according to the biodynamic principles.

The wines are matured in the 16th century cellar for about 14 to 18 months in barrels.
