About
Domaine Jacqueson
Marie Jacqueson and Pierre Jacqueson's wines are constantly attractive. Open-knit, supple and succulent wines that exemplify the Côte Chalonnaise's virtues without transcending expectations in terms of depth and complexity.
The top wines of the domaine are: Rully Premier Cru Cloux, Rully Premier Cru La Pucelle, and Rully Premier Cru Grésigny.
The Rully Premier Cru Cloux 2016 scored 91, the Rully Premier Cru La Pucelle 2014 scored 91, and the Rully Premier Cru Grésigny 2017 scored 90+ by the Wine Advocate.
Robert Parker's tasting notes on the Rully Premier Cru Cloux 2016: "The 2016 Rully Premier Cru Cloux from Jacquesson is excellent, wafting from the glass with notes of baking spices, sweet red cherries and raspberries. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, ample and velvety, with melting tannins, a lovely core of crunchy fruit and bright balancing acids. Sappy and mouthwatering, it should drink well over the next decade."
History
1946
Domaine P&M Jacqueson was founded in 1946 by Henri Jacqueson. His son, Paul Jacqueson, joined him in 1971.
Paul Jacqueson has now been succeeded by his children Marie Jacqueson and Pierre Jacqueson. Marie Jacqueson has been working at the domaine since 2006 and Pierre Jacqueson since 2015.
The label has been changed to "P&M Jacqueson". The domaine has recently been expanded by taking on some of the vineyards of Domaine de la Breliére.
Approach
The oldest vines are in Bouzeron, a plot they acquired in 2003 but which had been planted in 1937. Other vineyards with notably old vines include the Rully Premier Cru Grésigny 1950 and Mercurey Premier Cru Nauges 1962.
Marie Jacqueson and Pierre Jacqueson use barrels for maturation. He uses 20 percent of new wooden Burgundian barrels for the Premier Cru whites, sourced from a mix of coopers, and 25 percent for the Premier Cru reds.
Regarding red wines, they are clarified with egg barrels, with no further filtration.
The bottling is done at the estate.
