This lush, opulent, creamy-textured, medium-bodied wine displays coffee, chocolate milk, cherries, and raspberries throughout its sexy character and exceptionally long, pure finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2008.”
The wines are pure, fine and elegant with harmonious balance and strong aromatic potential.
History
1875
Since 2009, Maison Antonin Rodet has been owned by Domaine Jean-Claude Boissot. The current winemaker is Anne-Laure Hernette, she joined the maison in 2013. Georges Piazzon is in charge of the vineyards.
Maison Antonin Rodet was founded in 1875 by Antoine Rodet, known as Antonin. His father, François Rodet, was an intelligent businessman, and alongside other activities, he started the wine-broker trade.
The marriage of Antoine Rodet and the farmer's daughter, Marie-Françoise Adenot, gifted a considerable amount of land plots that enhanced the development of the wine business.
Antoine Rodet was succeeded by his 25 years old son, Antonin Rodet. At that point, Maison Antonin Rodet was a prosperous wine merchant. Antonin Rodet's youth and energy benefited the development of the maison - he brought it to the international market. Moreover, Antoine Rodet was one of the first who used the innovative, for the 1920s, form of communication - advertising.
Approach
Sustainable
The vineyards of Maison Antonin Rodet are farmed according to sustainable principles.
The white grapes are sorted in the vineyard. Upon arrival in the winery, the whole bunches are pneumatically pressed and settled in the tank for 24 hours or more. The maturation is carried out on lees with must-beating and lasts from 8 to 10 months, depending on the appellation. The new oak used for maturation is from 20 to 25 percent.
The red grapes are sorted twice - in the vineyard and on the sorting table, in the winery. After that, the grapes are crushed, destemmed and given cold pre-fermentation maceration from 2 to 4 days under the temperature of 13°C. In addition, daily pumping over and periodic punching down are applied. Fermentation lasts for 20 days. Maturation lasts from 10 to 15 months depending on the appellation; the percentage of new oak used is from 20 to 25 percent.
