Domaine du Clos des Rocs is situated in Loché, in the Mâconnais of Burgundy. The area of the domaine includes 10 hectares of vineyards within Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, including a monopole Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs. The winemaker of the domaine is Olivier Giroux, who farms his vineyards organically, with certification.

The wines of the domaine are elegant, well-balanced and pure.

The top wines of the domaine are: Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs Monopole, Pouilly-Loché Les Mûres and Pouilly-Loché En Chantone. The Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs Monopole 2019 scored 93, the Pouilly-Loché Les Mûres 2016 scored 93 and the Pouilly-Loché En Chantone 2017 scored 92+ by the Wine Advocate.

Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs Monopole 2019: “Textural and gourmand, the 2019 Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs Monopole opens in the glass with scents of pear, clear honey, fresh bread, nutmeg and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by lively acids that enliven the saline finish.”

Domaine du Clos des Rocs is currently managed by Olivier Giroux. In 2002 he bought the former Domaine Saint-Philibert in Pouilly-Loché and renamed it to Domaine Clos des Rocs, as it is a very stony vineyard with little topsoil.

Olivier Giroux is a winegrower in the 7th generation. His brother Sébastien Giroux manages their family domaine - Domaine Giroux.

The vineyards of the Domaine du Clos des Rocs are certified organically.

The harvesting is done manually. The grapes are pressed slowly. Fermentation is done with natural yeasts, and maturation lasts approximately one year. The maturation is mixed - 60 percent in barrels and 40 percent in stainless steel tanks.

No sulphur is used, even at bottling.
