Maison Verget is a 5.65 hectares large domaine, located in the Sologny, Mâconnais, Burgundy. Julien Desplants had been the domaine’s vigneron since 2006.

Julien Desplants’s top wines are sold on pre-arrival, making them very hard to find after they have been reviewed.

The top wins of the domaine are: Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, and Chablis Bougros.

The Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 1995 scored 98, the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 1996 scored 95-98, and the Chablis Bougros 1996 scored 95-98 by the Wine Advocate.

Robert Parker’s tasting notes on the Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 1995: “Quite possibly the most powerful dry white wine I've ever put in my mouth, the Batard Montrachet is so long it should be used in Timex commercials (over 40 seconds!). A sultry, ripe, enticing nose is compelling. Sweet, chewy, red berry fruits and roasted peaches build in the mouth to reveal unreal levels of power and intensity. Only 850 bottles of this nectar were produced from yields of 15 hectoliter/hectare (1 ton of fruit per acre). Drink it between now-2015.”

Julien Desplants has been the vigneron in charge at Maison Verget since 2006.

The domaine was founded by Belgian Jean-Marie Guffens in the 1980s. He decided to start his négociant in partnership with Jean Ricjkaert.

Maison Verget started with making plenty of Côte d’Or whites. Guffens was one of the first that pushed the producers to buy grapes rather than must.

In 1998, Château des Touretteswas purchased, where the headquarters of the maison is now located. In 2007, the domain's vineyards were enlarged with some parcels in Barsac

Julien Desplants prefers stainless-steel tanks of horizontal orientation. The fermentation is natural and long. They add some inert gas which helps to suspend lees.

The domaine started bottling with DIAM corks in 2011. Since 2004 about 60 percent of screw-cap are used at the bottling.
