About

Domaine Marchand-Tawse

Domaine Marchand-Tawse is the négociant label of Domaine Tawse, and is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. The current winemaker is Mark Fincham. His wines are powerful, fresh, intense, and delightful.

The top wines of the domaine are Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru and Echézeaux Grand Cru. The Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2016 scored 93-95, both the Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 and Grand Cru Echézeaux 2015 scored 92-94 by the Wine Advocate.

Rober Parker’s tasting notes on the Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2016: “The 2016 Clos-Saint-Denis Grand Cru was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose. There is good fruit intensity here although the new oak will need time to be subsumed (two-thirds new). The palate is medium-bodied with impressive density and focus, fine tannin and the 25 percent whole cluster fruit very well assimilated. There is a subtle oyster shell note that just lingers on the aftertaste, completing what is the standout offering from Marchand-Tawse this year.”

History

2010

Nowadays, the winemaker is Mark Fincham. Domaine Marchand-Tawse was founded in 2010 by two comrades - Moray Tawse and Pascal Marchand. The label represents the negociant-side of Domaine Tawse.

Approach

Mostly, the grapes are destemmed, especially for the Mazoyères-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin. However, one-third of the whole bunches are applied for all the Côte de Beaune wines.
