Top wines of Domaine Séguin Manuel are: Chambertin Grand Cru Clos de Bèze, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, and Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Chambertin Grand Cru Clos de Bèze 2016 scored 91-93, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2013 scored 92-94, and Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 scored 91-93 by the Wine Advocate.

Robert Parker comments on Chambertin Grand Cru Clos de Beze 2016: “The maiden 2014 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru, which Thibault said comes from a "good part" of the vineyard (he did not disclose where so as not to reveal the identity of the source), is matured in 100% new oak. It has a very well defined, very focused bouquet with lively, animated red berry fruit. Such joie-de-vivre here. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, perfectly judged acidity, harmonious and tender with good substance and breeding on the finish. Thibault has really captured the essence of this grand cru here - superb”.

History

The current winemaker Thibaut Marion worked for domaine Chanson Père & Fils before he set up his own business in 2004. Since 2005 the domaine has been extended with plots in Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Meursault and Vosne-Romanée.

Approach

Certified organic since 2015

Domaine Séguin Manuel has been farmed according to the organic concept with the certificate since 2015. The work in the vineyards is carried out with the respect to the terroirs, the soil is ploughed in order to eliminate competing weeds, to develop its microbial life and strengthen the roots of the vines.

The full ripeness grapes are harvested manually. Thibaut Marion follows a limited intervention technique in winemaking. The red grapes are preferably destemmed, then matured for not more than 18 months. According to the production of whites, since 2017 the wine has been vinified with no sulphur. The wines are aged in the François Frères barrels with a quarter of new oak for grands crus.
