About

Domaine Parent

Domaine Parent has held its vineyards in Pommard for centuries. The current winemaker is Anne Parent. The domain has been certified organic since 2013; it is also certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2020.

The top wines of the domaine are Corton Grand Cru Les Renardes, Pommard Premier Cru Les Epenots, and Corton Grand Cru by the Wine Advocate.

The Corton Les Renardes Grand Cru 2015 scored 92 - 94, Pommard Premier Cru Les Epenots 2015 scored 92 - 94, and Corton Grand Cru 2014 scored 92 - 94 by the Wine Advocate.

Speaking of Corton Les Renardes Grand Cru 2015 Robert Parker said: “...is 100% whole cluster fruit matured in one used barrel. The nose is initially more backward, but very pure. Perhaps a little timid at first, but it opens with candied red fruit, a touch of crushed rose petal and fine mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, beautifully balanced with the acidity lending edginess on the concentrated finish that lingers long in the mouth. Excellent.”

The winemaker style may be described as medium-bodied, well balanced with well-judged, crisp acidity, a little confit fruit towards the quiet minerally finish, and a lovely subtle tang of marmalade on the aftertaste.

History

The current winemaker is Anne Parent. She manages the family vineyards along with her sister, Catherine Parent. However, their brother, François Parent, runs his winemaking business separately, along with his wife, Anne-Françoise Gros. The previous winemaker of the domaine was their father - Jacques Parent.

As it was said, Domaine Parent has been the estate of vignerons for centuries and generations. One of the Parent's ancestors used to be a wine advisor for Thomas Jefferson, an American statesman and diplomat.

Approach

Certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2020, Certified organic since 2013

Domaine Parent was certified organic in 2013. The next certification was done by Demeter in 2020, proving the biodynamic approaches.

Anne Parent used to be one of the late pickers, but today she is trying new approaches. The grapes are properly sorted and fermented in open wooden barrels for at least two weeks.

Since 2015 Anne Parent makes her Corton Renardes with whole bunches and new wooden barrels to create stylish wine.
