Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, chewy structure and good concentration of muscular fruit, finishing savory/sweet.”
History
Château Marsau is managed by Anne-Laurence Chadronnier and her husband Mathieu Chadronnier. Anne-Laurence Chadronnier, the winemaker, oenologist and agricultural engineer of Château Marsau, gained experience from Jean-Marie Chadronnier, her husband’s father, who had been the owner of the estate since 1994. In 2017, the couple, Anne-Laurence Chadronnier and Mathieu Chadronnier, undertook overall management of the winery. Mathieu Chadronnier is responsible for business activities of the estate.
The owners of Château Marsau also possess Château l’Enclos Pontys (Bordeaux).
Approach
Château Marsau produces its wines from Merlot grapes. The vineyard is planted on pure clay soils, which is unusual for Francs where limestone grounds prevail. In order to develop biodiversity and meet organic requirements, the winery plants trees, leaves grass between the vine rows and performs all-manual soil cultivation. Plantings density varies from 5,000 to 6,500 vines per hectare. Depending on the vintage, the winemaking process presupposes from early to late blending with natural yeasts for fermentation.
